In non-societal collapse news (well, kinda related), I beat the Arks mission in Frostpunk last night and it didn’t feel as good as the main campaign. The New Manchester part in particular really left me feeling sour, and I know exactly why.

The way Arks is structured, you know you have specific objectives to work towards (upgrading heat, automatons), and when the New Manchester part happens, you don’t have anywhere close to enough time to react to its demands.

That’s not to say they’re impossible demands. If I play it again I suspect I’ll be able to easily accomplish them because I know they’re there, but the initial playthrough doesn’t even hint at them, and you have no incentive to use your resources in that direction naturally.

Yeah all the scenarios it's safe to just assume that you want to ABSOLUTELY MAXIMIZE your production. It's always necessary even if you don't know what you'll need it for to start. Go HAM on steel for Winterhome btw. ASAP. You'll find out why later.

Yeah, now that I know this is the design type I’m going to prioritize resource depots a lot more heavily than I have been. Was playing to stay sufficient, but I guess they want you to hoard.
