I’ll stick with what im good at, playing video games. Again, I was asking for opinions and takes on this because I FEEL like extra points and short kicks should be easy $$ but I’m not a professional NOR do I claim be.

The easiest way to approach it would be to think of all the people who talk about streaming as if it’s just setting up a camera and talking for a couple hours for $$. If you legit want me to break down kicking for you, I can.

As another person who clearly knows absolutely nothing about kicking in football, I would honestly be interested in this breakdown.

Sure. What you’re looking to do is recreate the exact same motion every time you hit the ball (like a golf swing) in order to get the consistency needed. Working against this are several factors. The first is that the human hip’s natural movement is to kick across your body.

When you’re kicking, you need some torque to generate power, but the ball is going to go where your hips are pointed at the moment of contact, so you can’t torque too much. Learning how to generate power with your leg snap and not your hips is issue one.

The second issue isn’t really one that you can control very much, and that’s the snap+hold. Good kicking units will have a rhythm, and if that rhythm gets disrupted (snap comes a half second late, holder fumbles the ball a tiny bit), now your motion changes to adjust.

If your plant foot lands two inches too far in front or behind the ball, that’s a miss. If the holder spots it an inch either way off the spot, that’s a miss. If the ball’s still spinning because he tried to get the laces around, that’s a miss.

Long story short, it’s a very precise operation involving multiple moving parts that you have 1.3 seconds, at most, to execute properly. Any longer than that and you’re getting blocked.
