Parents - please volunteer to coach for youth soccer leagues so that way we don’t end up with ten kids on a team because trying to figure out those substitutions is THE WORST.

That's key - patience. I usually teach my son's team (u10) that the other kids are learning just like you, so they'll make mistakes. When they do, that's when you take the ball from them. Teaching them the patience is really important. And challenging.

Oh for sure. Trying to get them to hang back when they see someone with the ball out there takes some time

One of my kids had a good practice last week staying in front of the other kid, so I told him to do it in the game. He got to his spot in front of the attacking kid, and looked at his parents as the ball slowly rolled into the goal. Me:pic.twitter.com/QAdxj2mpWh

Lol when those things happen, definitely emphasize the success (getting into position)! I always pump the kids up when they do the first part of a skill in the game, and then ask them questions to get them thinking where the breakdown was if it didn't work out. But... Kids...
