Parents - please volunteer to coach for youth soccer leagues so that way we don’t end up with ten kids on a team because trying to figure out those substitutions is THE WORST.

I'm in my third year and I think this is the year they break me, especially because I REALLY have no idea on how to coach soccer

Handy coaching tips for youngins: Focus on POSSESSION as primary goal (if we have the ball, the other team can’t score) We keep POSSESSION through VISION (seeing the field) and MOVEMENT (moving to empty space) We win by passing more than the other team, maintaining POSSESSION

You’re not concerned about the score at this age, you’re focused on developing fundamentals that they can build off of. Expect to lose most games the first half of the year. Watch as they develop and grow the second half. Make sure parents know to cheer for passes, not big kicks.

LOL I scream SHARE a lot. 5 of the 8 kids I had last year either moved away or are trying other sports this year (they're 5 this year, I started coaching when they were 3) and the 5 new kids never played soccer before

Oooof, yeah that’s a tough age group. Just gotta keep hammering home that swarmball isn’t the way to play. That’s where VISION comes in, if you can teach them to look up and see what’s around themselves, they’ll find the empty space much quicker.

Good tips, I'll work on that next week. Tomorrow's game may be chaos

They’re all chaos, it’s just a matter of slowly refining it :p
