I am kind of losing interest in Battle Brothers. Melee doesn't allow for very interesting battles; every fight is a scrum where the fight is going to go well if you spawn on the top of a hill and poorly if you spawn at the bottom of it.
Guessing none of the designers ever heard “no plan survives contact with the enemy”

it's going for that vaguely smug "losing is fun" attitude of xcom and df but you know what xcom and df both give you long enough to get attached to your pawns before kicking in the randomly-crushing-your-dreams events
