I’m an extreme novice when it comes to soccer and clearly soccer reviews ... that penalty seemed super weak. Helps the us clearly but man, that didn’t seem right.
But it’s a long established part of soccer that certain fouls have to be, for lack of a better term, “harder” or “more obvious” to warrant a penalty kick. Otherwise every single corner kick would lead to a pk with how much illegal contact goes on from the defenders.

Again, I’m not saying it wasn’t a foul. She went high and made contact. However, I don’t think the punishment fit the crime in that case, and when your options are “let it slide” or “award a pivotal pk in a 0-0 tie”, I’m on the side of letting that one slide.

It’s a slippery slope to tell refs to be subjective like that. If it’s a foul in the rulebook it’s gotta be called. It shouldn’t matter if the game is tied or not.

Every single corner doesn't have people taking shoulder-high boots

an allowed amount of grabbing and pulling is accepted for some reason but kicks to the shoulder aren't in any situation is my point.

I’ve seen them let go in the box before when the attacker flings themself into the defender’s leg and the defender is clearly trying to play the ball. The ref’s been letting them play physical the entire game. This stood out as different.

Can’t be that established if it was never written down in the rules.
