@ChrisWarcraft what position in a major sport takes the least innate genetic ability? I have to imagine some would say punter or kicker, but maybe that is way off...
I don’t think you can really quantify which takes the “least” amount of ability, only that each takes a different “type” of ability. I can’t do what d-linemen do, but they can’t do what I do.

That makes sense, I realize it is an impossible question. I guess I might try and frame it another way - every athlete who has made it to the professional level has some percentage of god given talent - for a center in hoops you'd have to be over 6'8" and have some agility.

Is there a position you can think of that if you were only 50% gifted you might be able to practice your way to the professional level? Might still be an impossible thing to answer, just curious if framing it that way helps make it more answerable.

Not that I can think of in the four major US sports (football baseball hockey basketball). If you expand to include golf, I think you could reach professional level but you’d still never be in the upper echelons. Even for that you still have to have coordination and focus.
