Should we use the advantage of our walls to keep the enemy at bay for as long as possible, as well as denying them corpses to raise? No. No, we definitely don’t want to do that.
What we should do is send out our forces piecemeal onto a wide open plain where our enemy’s superior numerical advantage will lead to a decisive defeat, then retreat to our walls only after we’ve lost the bulk of the people who could man those walls. That’s a Good Plan.
Anyways, it’s really hard to become invested in the stakes of people living or dying when they all deserve to die for being fucking idiots. The Night King should have won. Arya’s cool though.
Cavalry first into an unknown infantry horde they can't even see to hit, is pure brilliance how come you can't see that, Chris? Oh right nobody can see anything it's too dark.
And where were the flaming arrows? Why was Theon the only one with flaming arrows?
Against an enemy that prefers the dark and hates fire, no less!
I was expecting something clever with the cavalry. But then, I should have known better from the same plan that put all the defenseless civilians locked in the crypt
"the Castle at Winterfell has stood for thousands of years!" yet we have no way of defending our walls, no moat, no turret, no towers, and something like 12 archers with 10 arrows between them.
and we spent all that time with dragonglass mcguffin and it wasn't once necessary. Wights can be killed with normal weapons. Just such a frustrating episode.
The Boltons lit a bunch of pyres during the day, maybe the north only respects day fires?
