That being said, who knows, maybe he’s changed, but he needs to demonstrate that with concrete words and actions, *knowing* it will alienate a specific subset of white voters. Otherwise he’s just another status quo and kids will keep getting shot in the streets.

Your point is fair and appreciated. I would only point out that Obama refused to weigh in as pro gay marriage, but once elected he nominated two Supreme Court justices who corrected that grievous injustice. I merely point out the political expediency. Not arguing its moral virtue

1)He didn't appoint them with that intention 2)If you're hoping to capitalize on Obama nostalgia to buttress your argument, I can only remind you that not everything that feels good is good for you. At the end of the day, Obama was a guy in a suit.

I think maybe I became hugely jaded and guarded after Nov ‘16, which has made me put a higher value on electability to the detriment of ideals. I fully admit this may be a deeply flawed position, since Hillary was supposed to be “electable” too. Call it a defense mechanism.
