Finally got a chance to see Captain Marvel. I thought it was pretty good, I’d put it in the second tier of Marvel films (behind Thor: Ragnorak, Black Panther, and Guardians of the Galaxy). I give it 8 Flerkens out of 10 old young man Samuel L. Jackson’s.

idk it was kinda bad. i don't think setting it in a very specific past then setting half the movie in flashback from that was a good idea

Plot wise I agree with you, it felt disjointed. I thought the characters brought it back to that second tier level (i.e. it was no Ironman 2)

it had sort of the opposite problem as IM2 for me. Brie Larson was fine but the disjointed structure and really vague motivations for her character meant that Captain Marvel is kind of a void in the middle of a bunch of much stronger supporting performances

while IM2 was The RDJ Show, co-starring a bunch of worst-of-their-career performances

i don’t remember the performances at all, just that it was an awful, awful movie.

i can already kind of feel myself relegating CM to "that sure was a movie i saw one time", and i only saw it a few weeks ago
