One thing I would like to see Presidential candidates have as a policy plank is access to information as a basic human right. Whether that’s more funding for public libraries, subsidizing cell plans, or nationalizing the telecomms, we’re past the days of Internet being a luxury.

Especially in rural areas and lower income urban areas - you shouldn’t be at the whims of a corporation for what is nowadays a necessity of modern life.

At worst they need to recognize it as a utility as regulate it as such. In many states power companies can't raise the cost of electricity without state approval. Internet should be free or highly subsidized, but even better regulation is better than what we have now.
