This would literally never have occured to me. If I'm standing by the elevator buttons I ask people what floor they're going to so I can hit the button for them. Yeah I was raised to let women out first because it’s polite, as well as pressing the numbers if you’re there first, will definitely keep this in mind

There's also an extremely important elevator rule: if there is anyone under 5 in the elevator, you do not press ANY BUTTONS until you have ascertained whether aforementioned child would like to do it. I inadvertently robbed joy from one child doing this, and NEVER AGAIN.

Amendment: if there are two sibling under 5 needing the same button, press it and take one for the team because that fight will ruin mom’s next 4 hours.

I usually do one gets to press the floor, the other gets to press the door close button
