I see where you’re going, but the fact is that the left side of the French National Assembly (“the “Mountain”), had much of the power and drove most of the vision of the Revolution, so I think that’s coincidental to the other left=negative, right=positive, things of culture.
Except now we’re into the weeds of “who wrote that account” and “what was their agenda?”, especially when actual historians argue that the author was writing from a viewpoint favorable to the aristocrats.

Considering that the Left/Jacobins/radicals won the first five years of the Rev, and certainly didn’t disappear after the Thermidorian Response, even if a Rightist claimed they seated themselves, there’d be no lack of voices to dispute this and say “they sat us left!”
