Chris, do you think the NFLPA has to do whatever it takes to get rid of the franchise tag? It's intent was to give teams a way to keep players, but it's being abused by owners to hold leverage over stars at this point.

They'd need to strike, and they should go for guaranteed contracts and lifetime healthcare while they're at it

I'm looking at this ONLY from his side. He turned his back on $14M this year, more money than any other runner will earn this year. In doing so, he's gained no leverage, and won't accrue a year of service if he doesn't show. It's baffling.

Counterpoint - He earns $14million this year, gets injured, never plays again, instead of getting a $50million contract with $16million guaranteed over four years (which is about what he's worth and would likely pay out close to $30million assuming normal wear and tear).
