I think the problem a lot of centrists suffer from is that they don't understand how to quantify damage caused in aggregate versus damage caused at a point. Currently, many are bemoaning the fact protestors caused damage to Tucker Carlson's home.

This argument goes that the protest is disproportionate to what Tucker Carlson does, and this "violence" makes us worse. Because he is a single person, we can conceptualize the act of violence against him. To take Tucker's life is to take away what remaining time he has on Earth.

Tucker Carlson's show averages 2.8million viewers per night. Let's take a very modest assumption that 30% of those viewers watch Tucker's show and then the next day, go make life slightly worse for a single woman/person of color/LBGTQ individual/etc. That's 690,000 people.
