You're right, but perhaps the author of the original tweet is seeking to create a sort of generational resentment in youngsters, as a way to inspire voting. It better defines the group towards which young'uns can feel anger, and nothing works like anger to get folk to vote.

My college age kid reported his friends in other states think they can't vote because they aren't residents in those states. These MN kids can vote absentee. All parents of college students need make sure their kid knows what to do!

Funny thing about us "old people." We are the end product of our lives and the working of our minds. For some those minds are more open, more aware that many "old ways" don't work anymore. For others their minds closed shop around age fifty. Beware the bouffant hairdo . . .

There are SO MANY wonderful and caring older people who do think more progressively and they vote, thank goodness. Clearly you aren't who he is talking about- like my dad (75!) or his close friends.

OK yeah, but remember there are also a lot of angry old left-wingers out there who are pissed off that the progress we fought VERY hard to achieve in the 60s is being undone by Trump. We're voting for the future of young people. But they need to vote, too.
