I've read through almost 600 replies to my tweets on McCain. 99% of the negative responses, either tone-policing or telling me to fuck off, were made by accounts with a white person as their avatar image. Take from that what you will.

I believe he stopped the complete dismantling of Obamacare? That’s a big one.

Only after he let it get to that point. I'm not going to throw you a parade for cleaning up the shit you took on my rug.

When I was young, and just followed my parents politics, I was a big GOP guy. When a Dem co-worker told me Paul Wellstone died in that plane crash, I said, “Good, one less Liberal.” To this day, I’m still hurt that my political anger caused me to say such a horrible thing...

I’m a Dem now, but I’ll never forget saying that, and the sad/disappointed look on my co-workers face. I’ll regret that moment for the rest of my life. McCain wasn’t perfect by any means, but he isn’t a crazy righty either.

If there is this much anger for a more moderate Republican, I’m just worried we are painting the majority of the GOP with a broad brush. We need to appeal to moderate GOPs because we need their help to undo the incredible damage this pres is doing to our country.

What about him makes him *moderate*? He voted for the party line almost exclusively. He introduced Sarah Palin and the Tea Party to the mainstream. He voted overwhelmingly, with one notable exception, for Trump's policies. Please tell me what about that made him a *moderate.*
