this doubles as an argument for eugenics. i'm not saying you're making that argument, but you are deep in the scientistic weeds, again mistaking the map for the terrain.

Hence my qualifiers in previous posts, I'm well aware of how it can be misconstrued. I would argue that you're engaging in an unfounded optimistic view of humanity, one that proscribes meaning where there is none, and one that ignores the entirety of our recorded history.

Again, no argument here, but in the absence of anything else, it's all we have to work with, and it is, if nothing else, consistent. The vast majority of the time, the vast majority of humans will act for short term gain. Full stop.
