I mean, if you know the gist of all the material, it’s fine. This is basically how standup works. Like we write everything and practice it a bunch, but really there’s a few key lines to get out and then the rest is kind of just counting on your thoughts on a subject not changing.

Yeah, a lot of times I'll riff onto something I didn't even think of initially but that I realize in the moment makes sense

As a former speech & debate coach, I do not recommend this approach for most. Some folks are just good thinking on their feet. Many are not, at least in the beginning of their public speaking journey.

No, this is the best way. Know the material cold, have an outline of what you want to cover, but do not memoize a speech.

yup have your talking points written down so you don't forget anything Since there are things I HAVE to cover in Xamount of time I use powerpoint for my talking points, the actual content is provided by me [or my cospeakers] though, not the powerpoint.
