Born into slavery in Dorchester County, Maryland, Tubman escaped to freedom & returned to rescue others as part of the Underground Railroad.

Tubman spent the rest of her life fighting for women’s suffrage, the care of orphans, and the establishment of freedmen's schools.

Tubman's courage, conviction, and commitment to equality represent the best of America and we must recognize her place in history.

Putting Tubman on the $20 in 2020, which is the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, sends a powerful signal.

Exactly, @RepCummings. It would send a strong statement to the rest of the world about our nation’s commitment to equality and justice.

Even more, former Treasury Secretary Lew announced this was happening in 2016! So it makes no sense for Mnuchin to refuse to commit now.
