I live in a flood plain and checked on flood insurance. The cost over 3 years would be more than the house is worth. Admittedly my house is a very cheap mobile but flood insurance is clearly out of reach.
As floods worsen with climate change, the cost of insurance continues to rise. Average premiums have been rising between 5%-9% a year, and as high as 18% for homeowners.
