As we make sure our civil servants get paid, we can't forget about federal service contractors. They too have suffered from the shutdown and are facing mounting bills that many of them can't afford. I feel for them, but their employers should take care of them. They have been making huge profits off the federal govt for years. It’s not a federal govt responsibility.

You are going about this wrong. These people should be federal employees, not contractors. US Gov't employs way too many contractors!!!
