Ketogenic diet in the treatment of schizoaffective disorder: Two case studies. Both show KD resulted in a significant decrease in both positive and negative symptoms. Therapeutic effects only presented during ketosis, and reversed when KD was stopped. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0920996417300634?via%3Dihub …

There's mention of three- to five-day prophylactic fasts after the main fasting treatment in the article. It makes me wonder if something like Longo's fasting-mimicking diet could be explored as a practicable maintenance option if non-relapse isn't solely dependant on ketosis.

This is a tangent + confounded anecdote: my cerebral palsy has not relapsed and has continued to improve after the initial massive amelioration, despite over six months without fasting on an unhealthy non-ketogenic diet. However, other health issues (ex: allergy) came back some.

I agree that ketosis can heal, and even cure! We know it from the epilepsy world. However, in epilepsy, people often stay on the diet for a few years before being cured, with high rates of relapse if they stop too soon. I suspect the brain takes longer to heal.

Sorry, I hadn't said that the improvement came three days after a five-day fasting-mimicking diet (FMD) with caffeine. I don't think it could be due to ketosis (alone) bc I'd done a five-day water fast with caffeine and an FMD with caffeine before without that sudden improvement.
