Just left the Administration briefing on Coronavirus. Bottom line: they aren't taking this seriously enough. Notably, no request for ANY emergency funding, which is a big mistake. Local health systems need supplies, training, screening staff etc. And they need it now.

Reports are that China is running low on testing supplies so they’re having difficulty even identifying people who are infected. What is the administration doing to make sure there will be enough supplies? They are not going to be able to quarantine their way out of this.

Spouse is a physician. He says there are indications that certain anti-virals are effective against the virus. What is the administration doing, if anything, to ensure adequate supplies of anti-virals?

A casual observer might think one of America's enemies, say Vladimir Putin, was in charge of leaving our population this defenseless.

I mean, Obama set up a response infrastructure, so of course Trump had to tear it down. Dog bites man and all that. Trump would have had the Accuweather guy disband NOAA if he could get away with it. Probably a 2nd term project.

        2) The quickest, easiest, and perhaps only way to get the GOP to take 2019-nCoV's spread in America is to tie it directly to the Narcissist-in-Chief's reputation. The best way to do that is name it after him. #CaptainTrumps

Having been the manager for local public health response to the last pandemic, I can certify that the funds are needed for : staffing, masks, gloves, medications, all sorts of medical supplies in the event of hospitalizations.

Funding provided to local health jurisdictions for pandemic preparedness during Obama’s admin helped to secure a lot of needed supplies. But these age out and have to be replaced. Also there is a critical shortage of ventilators nationwide - much needed!!
