Heathrow's expansion was stopped to protect our environment , let's make HS2 next . I've launched a new legal action against Boris' flawed decision to approve this absurd project . Please join me . #ReThinkHS2 https://cards.twitter.com/cards/18ce546xfg2/93nxd …

.@BorisJohnson thinks it's OK to trash almost 700 wildlife sites (including 100+ ancient woodlands) , ignore our climate targets and enable Heathrow's expansion to take place at airports elsewhere . Show him we're not OK with it !http://hs2rebellion.org

There’s a 1,200 mile road building programme with much more impact. 45km of HS2 is underground, same as Channel Tunnel. HS2 cuts flights & brings huge green rail capacity.pic.twitter.com/y8UTJl9S9q

Moving trains to HS2 releases UK wide capacity for 3Bn+ rail journeys on network built for 750m. It’s 2Bn now. And cuts the crazy 170 daily London-Edb/Glas flights. It’s not just a fast train to Birmingham. Same eco impact as 15 miles Mway...pic.twitter.com/bFjS52tCHR

It'll only cut the flights if it's cheaper than flying. You think a fancy new train will be cheaper than flights when the old system isn't?

"well over budget" Currently the best estimate of the project's cost is £69bn which is only 20% over the previous estimate.https://twitter.com/joncstone/status/1227217428712742913 …

Curiously, the widely-reported claim ahead of Oakervee’s publication that the review found HS2 costs would rise to £106bn is only mentioned in the context of casting doubt on it. Review instead suggests £69bn is likely top estimate. Selective leaking not always reliable… pic.twitter.com/0suxrpSyxX
