What an amazing person. He shouldn't have had to do this though. My sincere condolences to teachers everywhere. Didn't realize job descriptions have been updated to include voluntary human sacrifice.

As a teacher, I appreciate your sentiment. I can’t believe what my profession has become.
-
If you're in states, stay safe please. All my love and respect to you all. I'm a teacher in Canada and thankfully not expected to take a bullet for my kids. I love them all and want the best for them but I want to live too.
-
Yes, I am in the states and have been told our new policy is to “fight back”

-
When I was in high school my teachers were told that fighting back against a gunman or a person with a bomb was the new “procedure during lockdown.” Thankfully we didn’t have to ever do this but school should be a safe place for learning not a war zone.
-
Wow. I can't even imagine this. I went to an all girls convent school. The biggest threat we had was if a cute male teacher or delivery boy walked in.
-
I wish that was the only thing we had to worry about! School would’ve been way more fun

I’m a teacher who finds myself more and more terrified to go into work every day. Every time a fire alarm is pulled, every time a door closes too loudly or a kid yells in the halls, I wonder: is this when I’ll have to be brave enough to be like this man?
-
Often times, and rightly so, our men and women in uniform are thanked for their service. Meg, thank you for your service to the children of this country. As a teacher, you are on the front lines every day...so thank you

-
Why the fuck are you normalizing this? No teacher should ever be “at the front lines.” Are we at war with our own people? Are our children in the battle zone? This is absolutely insane. Meg, I’m sorry this is what our country thinks is the cost of “liberty.”
-
Yeshar, I think you may have read my tweet with the wrong tone.

As a Mother, I am terrified daily. I want to stop this. I would dedicate my life to stop this. I don’t know how. Times have changed. They need to change gun laws. Australia did a gun buy back program there are zero shootings. England banned all guns!
#BanAssaultWeapons#GunReform -
I don't blame you! I'm in England, to me this is shocking that this appears to happen so often. I never feared once throughout school I may be shot, I cannot even begin imagine how that feels.

Question: would you trust this hero with a gun?
-
Most teachers don't have the training to have a weapon and don't want it. We have families. We don't want to even be trained. We just want to teach and now we're expected to jump in front of bullets. We want our children to be safe but not like this.
