Expanding these programs to all Americans who wish to serve should be a key part of our recovery effort. I’m working with my colleagues and critical national service organizations to introduce legislation to make that a reality.

Today, I joined @AnnMaura Connolly of @Voices4Service to call for a bold expansion of national service programs to respond to #COVID19. We have a ready-made national network of individuals who, if we engage them, can be a critical pandemic response corps in this time of crisis.

As our country faces the dual challenge of responding to a national public health crisis and a very sharp economic crisis, this is exactly the time for us to build on our country’s proud history of citizen service.
