I would like to think that we are beyond the days when dismissing an accuser was an acceptable substitute for investigation and an evenhanded assessment of the facts.

Yes - and we also have to acknowledge how long ago it happened. She was victimized but he may have changed. Still, since he has never been found out - or owned up or been discovered via vetting, he may be a good person now. Just not SCOTUS material.

Or, this is a liberal hit job. Without evidence from 1983, we can't even move forward. Heck, they may be false memories. She may believe it was hit, but could be someone else.
