First, the origin of the coronavirus requires professional, science-based assessment. WHO&most countries of the world oppose stigmatizing linkage between the virus and specific countries and regions. Shifting the blame to China will not help combat the epidemic in any country.

Second, in combating this disease, the Chinese Government has regarded the safety and health of the people as the top priority. The most comprehensive, strict and thorough measures have been adopted, deployed and strengthened across the country.

These measures are showing positive effects and we have managed to bring the epidemic under control. We have made huge sacrifice to slow down the spread of the epidemic to other parts of the world.

China has also engaged in international cooperation in an open, transparent and responsible manner, in order to safeguard and improve global public health. China is actively providing as much help as possible to other countries and international organizations.

This is how we fulfill our international responsibilities. Dr. Tedros, Director General of WHO, has emphasized China’s measures are not only protecting its own people, but also protecting the people in the whole world, and that China has bought time for the rest of the world.

Third, China’s countermeasures against US restrictions on Chinese media agencies in the US are entirely necessary and reciprocal. Nevertheless, China’s fundamental state policy of opening-up has not changed and will not change.
