The start of 2019 saw more fairness and privacy complaints filed against CGNT with Ofcom over other forced confessions it had aired. Ofcom began an investigation in May into the Peter Humphrey case and another filed by Angela Gui on behalf of her father. (5/9)

In May 2020, Ofcom ruled CGTN violated its broadcasting code over coverage of Hong Kong protests. 2 months later, Ofcom also ruled CGTN was also in breach of regulations for airing forced confessions. And finally this morning, Ofcom announced it is revoking CGTN’s licence to broadcast after concluding its licence was wrongfully held by Star China Media Ltd. It has not yet concluded its decision on sanctions over due impartiality and fairness and privacy violations. (9/9)
