Pets are very different to kids. Saying that someone is not Childfree if they have pets is crazy.

Agree - childfree is childfree. But someone who doesn't want kids because they don't want any added responsibility - which pets also are - might see pets and kids as similar.

So caption & headline made me not want to like this but I’m glad I read it. It’s a good piece! That dude is absolutely crazy! Having pets doesn’t mean you are no longer childfree. I’ld venture most of us don’t think of pets as our kids. We love cats, they aren’t kid replacements.

The idea of pets being considered kid replacements (usually said by pronatalists) is confusing, because parents would be the first to say pets aren't kids, and *we* know pets aren't kids, so ... replacements how?
