It was ill advised and looked like a premeditated show of bravado. The police station (which is still like an army barracks) is not open on a Wednesday. A serious question of most certainly judgment and also Simon’s motives.

There was nothing wrong with the image - the public expect the PSNI to be appropriately equipped to face the reality of what happens here so we don't have to. Keeping People Safe. 👮‍♂️

Personally didn’t think anything of it except I was born/bred in N.I. and am off an age where I was living through the troubles although young at the time. Anyone with a sense of morality will realise that the Police have to protect themselves in still uncertain times.

You had the opportunity to apologize, but instead reinforced the negative message sent out. What difficult circumstances are the PSNI under in Crossmaglen? Why the posing with heavy weapons? It's crazy, insulting to the people of Crossmaglen ill thought out and damaging.

The republican movement are still murdering officers to this day. No apologies needed in my opinion. Ridiculous you even tweeted this !

And you are still killing your own thugs and criminals on a regular basis. Any such pics at Strandtown? Nah didn't think so
