An offender who was responsible for his passenger's death in a crash on July 1st in the 5700 block of N. Broadway was arrested today in Terre Haute, IN. He was charged with, among other things, felony reckless homicide and felony aggravated DUI. It took some time, but we got him!

Because a witness was able to positively ID the offenders, 2 juveniles were arrested for felony aggravated battery in a public place yesterday for a crime that was committed on December 12th in the 5000 block of N. Broadway. Great job everyone!

Had it not been for this straw purchase, we would still have Ella with us today, Officer Carlos Yanez Jr. would still be an active officer, and Officer Joshua Blas would still be patrolling with his partner. Ella's mother, Elizabeth French, would still have her daughter.

An officer then deployed a taser and the offender lunged, striking an officer in the shoulder & head with a knife. An officer then discharged his weapon, striking the offender, who was taken to a hospital, arrested, & charged accordingly.

So, the officers pushed the man to the 11th District station, almost a mile away from their location, and then paid for an accessible ride share to help him get back home. They then followed behind to assist the resident and ensure he got home safely.
