Reaching for a radically more humane immigration system is not pie-in-the-sky, utopian dreaming. But it does require a certain measure of humility on the part of those of us who have benefited from birthright citizenship.

Democrats. Do not give Trump a dime for this dumbass border wall. Nothing. It’s rooted in racism and won’t make our nation safer. It’s a colossal waste of money. Hold the door.

  17. 2/3: Wild wasn’t “notable” to them, even though their paper gave it two rave reviews. Neither was Gone Girl, which was published the same year. The two books topped the bestseller lists for a good part of 2012. But they were not notable! Tiny Beautiful Things: also not notable.

  18. To authors feeling bad about not making either the NYT “notable” list OR the list of books who weren’t deemed notable: take heart. These lists say far more about the editors who create them than they do about the books. “The 100 Notable Books” is especially meaningless. 1/2
