  1. As former judge, I'm disturbed. Neither DA/PD asked for this decision and judge has at least appearance of conflict as employee of Sheriff opposed to bail reform. BTW, how can judge also work for Sheriff? Cohoes judge sets bail in low-level case

Heastie pushes back on bail reform tales "public isn’t getting the full picture, he said. There are incidents that involve someone who is mentally ill, who should receive psychiatric help instead of sitting in a jail cell ahead of trial." TY

In Brooklyn—where bail policies are virtually identical to the ones that will be implemented soon as part of the new fearmongered law—there were only two shooting incidents last week and shootings are down 9% for the year. Homicides on track to remain at a record low. Just FYI.

And loved ones can't get info due to HIPAA but police can broadcast confidential mental health information? This is what our "mental health" system has come to.... No wonder police can't get it right, it's not their job.

Im not going to die “formerly incarcerated,” any more than Frederick Douglass died a “former slave.” Mediocrity pleads with Americans to believe, “People aren’t the worst thing they’ve ever done.” 🙏🏾 I say, “People aren’t the worst thing this country has ever done to them.”

As a Board of Advisor, Jay always took time to help. He was generous with his time, an endlessly creative problem solver, and so much fun to be around. RIP Jay, you will be missed.

We are very happy to see release her plan on dealing with the mental health crisis. Highlights of Harris's plan include repealing the IMD exclution and doubling the number of treatment beds nationwide. Thank you Senator Harris!
