I had the BDD for about a year at age 17. It's very odd. It isn't an hallucination - technically it's a delusion. You've convinced yourself so hard that you need to diet, you start seeing yourself fat *even though* you know how much you weigh and what dress size fits. 2/3

Another huge similarity I've noticed with transgenderism & anorexia - the amount of social approval, support & cheerleading you get! Everyone telling you how good you look, how well you're doing, offering further advice. It's seductive. 3/3

I've heard some young women in pro-ana groups are now moving on to transgenderism. It's less likely to kill them with multiple organ failure, but also less reversible than starvation. I feel sure that both are unconscious efforts to escape the hassle of female sexual maturity.

I have ADHD & Asperger's. Similar issues. I don't feel connected 2 my physical plant, as it were (proprioception issues). & my brain is more male than most women's. & I don't get how 2 tend & befriend very well. But I am female. It's a cheap copout 2 say "I'M A BOY."...

...I could probably pass whatever tests they give the butch gals who transition. I just hate lying more than they do.
