As my colleague said when we were texting about it, it's basically saying that you'll probably die if you don't get the vaccine, and you're just plain stupid if you don't get vaccinated. Plus yeah, huge needle, wtf.

It also seems like "life is a balance of risks" is how you'd justify not getting the shot and instead accepting the risks of Covid.

Except for the whole, “if you get vaccinated you won’t need hospitalization or die” misinformation. The vaccine is not 100% effective & increasingly so less effective against variant strains, much like the flu vaccine.

        1. There are multiple vaccines and there is no evidence that they’re less effective against different strains 2. The new adenovirus vector vax seeking an EUA in fact prevented 100% of hospitalizations at day 48 and 100% of deaths at day 28

SO many visual alternatives to the big needle. Need #GraphicMedicine involved. Visualize immune system, unprepared for virus versus trained to expect it. Could also capture why "side effects" are positive sign of your body learning to respond if it meets actual virus.

Shame people? She’s an epidemiologist and public health professional with a PhD - she’s spent years studying this topic, and she’s trying to help people and educate them when they have questions. She deserves a little more respect.

I first looked into the AHCF when I was covering prop 60 in CA, which would require condoms in porn films. Found it to be a pretty strange organizationhttps://www.aidshealth.org/2016/07/yes-prop-60-sues-pornographers-lies-voter-info/ …

Ah yes, the good old days of Prop 60. It's a weird org for sure. That was around the same time Weinstein was very anti-PrEP and yet...the Hollywood clinic prescribed a lot of PrEP!
