Just imagine a very scary man bellowing at the top of his lungs at three small boys at bedtime and you'll get the idea. (they LOVE it)

Once long ago in the middle of the night in the East Village in NY I heard a voice shout "Stand, Men of the West. Stand and wait. This is hour of doom."
-
My word, my blood would run cold.

Im currently reading the hobbit to my daughter. She really enjoyed the Trolls. Because i try to do voices for each diffrent character. But it aint easy voicing 13 different dwarves a hobbit and a wizard LOL

My husband has read this aloud several times now, and he told me his secret- most of the dwarves can have the same voice, because they don't really do much in the story. Thorin, Balin, and Bombur are the most important ones. Maybe this will give you a break!

@Brian_Sauve is reading the same to our oldest! He even sings the songs of the elves & Ari eats it right up! -
There's something about a man reading LOTR that just hooks 'em.

The best part of this to me is Tolkien adapted that speech from the Finnsburh poems, which are 1500 years old. Basically, he's reading what Tolkien loved so much that he studied it for his career and embedded it into his masterpiece. And now it's going to a new generation
-
Never heard of that, will have to look into it. Thanks!
