If you're a young South Korean, unification is probably the last thing you want to think about, the bill for this is going to be extremely high, making it a medium to long-term objective.

North Koreans themselves aren't about to dismantle their authoritarian political system, Chairman Kim is very confident, we've seen that in the way he presented himself to the international media last Friday - this is not a man who is planning to go anywhere in a hurry.

The Trump meeting is critical - the US president has said he is willing to walk away from the meetings. Despite all the progress we've seen between the two Koreas - we shouldn't assume that the meeting between Trump and Kim is necessarily going to go well.

Lessons yes, absolutely. But also caution & the recognition that the more immediate challenges of denuclearisation & peace come first.
