NEW A ‘soft’ Brexit would exacerbate popular and political resentment towards the EU. Instead, finding a 'sensible' Brexit is the way forward, writes Chatham House Director @RobinNiblett https://www.chathamhouse.org/expert/comment/finding-sensible-brexit …pic.twitter.com/84ZMoybS7C

Didn't the Brexit White paper admit that Britain has retained sovereignty throughout its membership of the EU? Only sensible thing to do is #Remain. #FBPE

I believe this kind of sensible Brexit is what the govt is striving to achieve.

Doesn’t sound too ‘sensible’ to me in that it has to be achievable in timescales. EEA membership. EU membership. Heads of Agreement only for some other form of Brexit and that will mean a hard Brexit on 29.3.19 whilst trade still under negotiation.

Sounds a little like the cherry picking the EU is desperate to avoid?

I love the way he doesn't consider that economic effects have a bearing on political opinion. Somehow the political opinion of summer 2016 is preserved in aspic.

A sensible Brexit..is that the last oxymoron of 2017?
