Can't one also view this as, since we now seem to be in an arms race, we migjt be in a new cold war. (not to mention active cyber ops)
But it is not a cold war. It is not an ideological standoff - it is not a binary bloc-to-bloc, balance of power world. However both are competing for trade, power and influence - and yes you are right re cyber (also space and airspace) - high dangerous but hot, not cold.
