For as long as I've taken an interest in politics - 35 years - I've heard that sentiment. It never led to mainstream racist and xenophobic politics till very recently. Why is that?

Have you considered the fundamental issue was mass uncontrolled immigration from the late 90s & the implications for a once peaceful population of this country? No.

Maybe the rape and torture of working class girls and subsequent cover up might be a hint

Maybe flooding working class peoples community's with hostile foreigners who they can not escape from and the elite condemning them as racists at the same time

That sort of anguish is what is causing
@TheRebelTV and Tommy Robinson to become seen as a vanguard of protection of European society. Neoliberalism has no way of dealing with this kind of consequence. -
In my opinion tommy is a bit liberal to have the stomach for what's going to have to be done if we don't get demographics under control by closing our borders, deportations and incentive higher European birthrates this kind of experience will be much more widespread unfortunately
-
Thanks for your reply. People like Tommy have simply been wanting to document the judicial record on the consequences of problematic immigration. Are you familiar with the Union of the Mediterranean? Could you see the NATO countries and the UN Security Council working with it?

Possibly meaningful but there is nothing new under the sun and demagoguery and rabble rousing aka populism have been around for at least 2,500 years.

I would suggest the current Labour leadership are very vocal about the many problems with our political system.

I am glad that Chatham House acknowledges this consequence of decades of a toxic contaminant in society known as neoliberalism: [https://www.cbc.ca/radio/ideas/is-neoliberalism-destroying-the-world-1.4839399 …] We have to see where this leads in a ganging up of oligarchs with outright fascists: https://raisethehammer.org/article/3593/?view=nested#discuss …

That’s because in the eyes of the self-serving career politician, there is nothing wrong with our deeply corrupt, unfit-for-purpose political system.pic.twitter.com/HFVNnQ6PYQ

Nope. That's not a problem at all. Everybody knows the real problems we are facing, and populism solves none of them!

Red herring. The important issue is the drivers of the political process. Why do they choose the policies they chose, who influences those and why are 'they' in a position to influence those policies. I'll let you ponder who or what that might be.

If Brexit brings PR...I’d have to say that would be a VERY good outcome. Doubtful JRM, BoJo & rest have any interest in that...quite the opposite
