There are rich pickings in getting free trade agreements in Latin America once the UK leaves the EU. To date, the volume of UK trade with Latin America has been puny, we want more, we are ambitious - Sir @AlanDuncanMP speaking from Latin America Conference this morning. #CHLatAmpic.twitter.com/zWvZKNOfrD

Are you aware of how many years trade agreements take to put together? Are you also aware that volume of trade typically decreases with geographical distance? You’re proposing ditching trade agreements with our closest neighbours in the hope of maybe trading with SA? For real?

The EU already has, or is negotiating, FTAs with nearly all of Latin America. The EU will ALWAYS get a better FTA than the UK. The best deal for Britain is to remain in the EU.pic.twitter.com/MtNTX0Y4z3

but it means the UK Civil Service has to (1) stop on lucrative EU tax/law harmonization work (also sub contracted by treasury ) and (2) create it's own framework rules - means taking top off pens..

Can UK talk to them about Bull Torture Culture before we trade? They are in the UN right? Well the UN Sustainable Development Goals speak of civil society, end to old mindsets, peaceful communities, global citizens and Animal Protectionpic.twitter.com/JlLVazW3Cl

If trade volumes are low, could that simply mean UK has not much to sell to these countries? What do you think the UK will trade after brexit with Latin America that it couldn't trade now?

Global trade? Relations between China and Japan are warming. And EU and Japan signed a big trade treaty recently. Perhaps Kevin Rudd of #Asia Society, formerly PM of Australia, could engineer a bigger trade treaty [new TPP] with UK as well.https://www.ft.com/content/f360705e-d77a-11e8-ab8e-6be0dcf18713 …
