Politically, despite a historic turnout and more parties contesting, the results further entrenched a largely two-party system of ruling party and dominant opposition.

There needs to be cross-party political reconciliation, but it is also vital, going forward, that the pre-election energy of a widened democratic space is not dissipated and that alternative next-generation voices are heard.
