And, he wrote a little opinion about the felony murder rule in 1983. ... Justice Mosk was 35 years ahead of his time. We're catching up to you Stanley.

It was sad to see the children witnessing their father in a criminal courtroom, but there was also something so powerful about the prosecutors and judge being confronted by this man’s full life. And fitting, bc when you sentence a man, you sentence his family too.

For people who aren’t willing to connect the dots — these types of investments are also relevant and important in the context of in New York. If we are serious about public safety, we need to ensure that everyone’s basic needs are met!

Mass incarceration costs $182 billion a year in the United States. Imagine the peace we’d see if we invested that money in preventative programs and restorative justice practices.

“It exposes the undercurrent of the bail rollback movement,” said. “This undercurrent of racism is perpetuating Trumpian fear-mongering, racist, anti-immigrant, anti-woman rhetoric that is showing up right here in NY.”

Just a reminder (from ) that the DOJ is already trying to lock back up many of the people this guy freed. And, of course, that he's actually implemented the most carceral policies we've ever seen.

Trump is not running on criminal justice reform. The purpose of the ad is to trick his supporters into thinking cruelty and racism are not at the center of their political movement.

WOW: The first openly gay DA in Harris County - who’s sparked criticism for months from reformers who say she isn’t progressive enough - just lost the primary endorsement to a Democratic Socialist,

I love this. And I will add: Prisoners have been denied. Their families have been denied. People on probation, parole, under surveillance have been denied. Their time is now too.

A return to the bracero system— good exploration here of why farmworker groups oppose this bill. “We do not want to sell out our principles,” said Ramon Torres, president of Familias Unidas por la Justicia (FUJ), a Washington state farmworker union.

Just a reminder: Legacy media propagates utter nonsense unhinged from any reality — as though CA’s Prop 47 “enabled” cartels. In the criminal justice sphere we need activist journalism because of this kind of utter garbage masquerading as “objective.”
