Withdrawal from the #JCPOA is a GOP pathology, not an issue unique to Trump. A President Kasich or Rubio would've done it too, probably in their first year.

@nikhil_palsingh very possibly, but not all GOP types as tethered to Israel to the extent trump is, from family to advisors.2 replies 0 retweets 2 likes -

Yes, things are moving quickly--this seems to be another in-gathering of the forces that brought us the Iraq War.

& did do with no regrets. Still, candidate Trump wasn’t this gung-ho for war; he’s clearly under influence.

I would have worried about this with HRC as well, though she'd have been loath to undermine Obama where Trump relishes it. But the American appetite for war is so deep and bi-partisan, so tied to the irresolvable crisis of the Israeli regime, and the neocons were never defeated.

Speculation of course, but I find it highly improbable HRC would’ve wrecked the JCPOA. Not because of any personal conviction, but forces would’ve been arrayed against her doing it, both inside her own party and out, including much of the Breitbart Right

I tend to agree with you, which was why it was more a worry looking at her candidacy and historic bellicosity, (and I do think she'd have been under pressure to ratchet up the low-intensity war with Iran.) Do you think there will be right-wing opposition to Trump on this?

There will be v little right-wing opposition. @amconmag, @CatoFP, sure. But the 70% of GOP voters who opposed Obama bombing Assad over the blown “red line” has switched to 70% approval of *their boy doing same, they’re v clannish.
