Agreed, though his logic is compelling: we do it with banks, we surround the things we love with guns, and we don't actually love our kids nearly as much as we love banks

I don’t agree with the logic at all, assuming as it does that armed guards are the only meaningful sign of “love. Also, banks are at much greater risk of violent crime (robbery) than schools are of shootings. Securitizing schools is a terrible road to go down

Oh, I agree, and the logic is a symptom of a broader collapse of public/ private institutions & values. I just meant there's an embedded critique there of the fact that our society values banks over schools. Was reading him generously.
