Norway doesn't have "free" healthcare but their socialized system, paid for mostly with taxes, costs enormously LESS (9.7% of GDP) than ours (17.1% of GDP; both figures 2014). I don't think people realize this: socialized healthcare costs a lot LESS than our profit-sucking mess.

As of 2016, Healthcare spending accounted for 17.9% of GDP. So not only are we spending way too much on healthcare, but its costs are growing faster than everything else. Healthcare spending is swallowing our economy.

No, they don't realize it. All they hear is "free" and automatically assume that means some "other" might get something without paying that they had to work hard to pay for on their own up until now - invalidating the meritocracy fantasy they'd been fed their whole lives.

A shared burden is an easier burden. Private healthcare still exists in Norway, for those with the money to spend on it.

I think they realize it. They simply like it this way. More money, less people live, mostly poor people suffer.

And Americans want pills to fix everything, run to doctors for everything. U S uses 60% more medication than next closest nation, and God forbid they have to wait to be seen.

you can half blame schools for making people into factory sheep. they teach everyone the same shit instead of specialized cirriculum that would benifit to ones natural talents.

And it only gets worse. !. Mergers and closings create monopolies. 2. To keep stock prices moving up, corporations have to increase profits every year.
