Just finished Solaris. Very interesting concept (humans studying a sentient alien ocean that might be trying to communicate with them) but its writing feels ice cold

Chase, are you describing the original or the Clooney remake?
-
original! Haven’t yet seen the Soderbergh-Clooney remake but am told it’s good (even superior)

I'm a huge Tarkovsky fan but BION I preferred the George Clooney remake because it requires good F/X to be believable enough so that being an idea in the mind of god/a planet seems normal -- which is quite weird and cool.

I really gotta see it (Just saw the cleaned-up Stalker on the big screen a few months ago and lurved it but mainly as a tribute to T's filmmaking than anything inherent in the story)
-
Stalker is awesome bec so much intensity out of nothing. All of T's films kind of like that. So exactly what you say: film-making, not story. Must say: so much better to see T films lying in bed with a big screen then on scratchy revival house seats. Easier to trance.
