In aphorism 125 of the Gay Science, when Nietzsche asks, “Who gave us the sponge to wipe away the whole horizon?“ what he means is that, with the death of God, there is no Archimedean point for collective perception—ergo, no horizon. History is rendered mere infinite nothingness.
